About our staff
Sir / Mr H
Likes to think he’s “The Boss”, we let him think it as this keeps him happy. Miss D and he set up the classroom 2 years ago to help students who had strayed off the mainstream path get back on track. Sir has over 15 years of experience helping children with emotional and behavioural difficulties. He is an ace teacher, a fab listener and most of all he has a great sense of humour. His hobbies are flying (ex airforce flying instructor) and cycling, and if you are lucky enough to win the Country Classroom student of the term then you may get the opportunity to go for a flight with him. He is Miss D’s other alf!
Miss D
Knows she’s the boss! The co-founder of the Country Classroom, Miss has over 10 years experience of dealing with children with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Miss is an excellent teacher and works extremely well on both 1-1 sessions and teaching class groups. Miss is the classrooms resident ‘horse whisperer’ and uses her expert knowledge of these magnificent creatures to aid students in their own understanding and fostering their own relationships with these animals.
Her hobbies are horse riding (obviously) and reading. She is the sirs better half!
Miss A
An ex Hollywood stunt woman! not many schools have one of those!! Actually she is Miss Sellers but because she’s American the students have christened her Miss America, hence Miss A! She is our resident TA and will turn her hand to anything. She is also our small animal expert! Miss A has over 3 years experience of working with children with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Miss T
Our newest member of staff. Miss T works part time for us here at the Country Classroom and uses her extensive mainstream experience to help our students improve their reading and literacy skills. Equally at home with reading a book or a paint brush! Miss T works with us on a Monday and Tuesday afternoon.
Miss B
Another part-time member of the Country Classroom family. Miss B has worked for us since the classroom began. Miss B is an expert seamstress and has ignited a real passion amongst the students for all things sewing. She also happens to be Sirs mother in law!!
Ian the Farrier
What can you say about Ian….?
Ian has been our farrier for about 5 years. Not only is Ian our farrier but he is also a very good friend of the Bilbrough Country Classroom. He comes here every 6 weeks to put new shoes on our horses which all the students are able to watch.
In his spare time he enjoys fishing with Sir and cheating at our break time game of UNO!!
