About our animals

All our animals play a massive part in the education and rehabilitation of our students educational and emotional needs. Students come into daily contact with the animals, whether it be via the curriculum or simply by having a bit of fuzz therapy.

Dandy and Beano

Hi, we are Dandy and Beano, otherwise know as the “gruesome twosome”! We have been at the Country Classroom since it began and we were puppies! We are perhaps the two animals that you will see most around the classroom and we just love joining in lessons, especially maths and circle time/SEAL where Beano often leads the sessions! We are very good at helping you sort all sorts of things and enjoy having some ‘fuzz’ therapy. We look forward to meeting everyone!

Bumble

Hello all, my name is Bumble, otherwise known as ‘bad-boy bumble’. Although i’m small I am the oldest resident at the Country Classroom among the animals. I am in fact 26 yrs old but in horse years…. well lets just say I am beyond my pension! I may be old but I am extremely fit and can often be seen playing ‘tig’ with my best friend Toby.
I love being groomed as I have a condition which stops my hair from naturally coming out in the spring like everyone else’s! I look forward to meeting you and all the grooming I know I will receive. TTFN!

Billy

‘The boss’! I am top man around here – (with the exception of sir of course) and that’s because I stand 16.2 hands high measuring from the floor to my withers – you will get to know which part of me that is while you are here, but lets just say that that’s 1m 65 cm in new money!
I have been at the Country Classroom for nearly 3 years and will often come over and have a chat with you whilst you are poo-picking. Like many people I have an allergy to pollen and in spring have to take an inhaler because of the dreaded pollen! Anyway that doesn’t effect me too badly and I can still put a good turn of speed in when required! Anyway folks look forward to chatting soon.

Toby

I am the cheeky chap of the horsey bunch here at the Country Classroom. I am 12 hands high which is 1m 20cm in your terms. I have lived here for 7 years and will be here for the rest of my life as my mum thinks i’m wonderful as I am sure you will when you get to know me. I love attention and fuss, so when you get here pick up a brush and give me a groom and lets get to know each other, i love a good chat.

Freddie

Arrived at BCC in May 2010, I am probably the funniest animal here; I have a special trick which I do that makes everyone laugh. I occasionally think I am a dog and will pick up a stick and throw it and literally run after it. I also have the funniest mouth ever if you tickle my nose then watch my mouth go.

Mowglee

Where do we start with Mowglee….??
I am 12 years old and have lived here for 3 years. I arrived here very thin, unhappy and terrified, I carry a lot of baggage and always look worried, but, please don’t let this put you off as I love to be talked to and am very good listener, and the best thing is I don’t answer back.

The Ducks

2 Cayuga and 3 Camblesforth are we. We have been at the classroom for 2 years. We waddle around and make a mess, but we lay beautiful eggs and if your lucky enough you may get to try them.

The Geese

Minni, Minx and Mo probably the 3 oldest residents. We love to splash around in any water we can find and for about 4 months of the year lay the largest eggs you have ever seen.
